How were your Holidays? Our family had a wonderful time. We had a daughter in the Nutcracker downtown and that made our schedule a little crazy, but it was awesome. She met the company dancers and that was a dream come true. Other than that we had a traditional holiday with family. I really enjoyed having the kids at home.

I have resolutions to stay on top of my work. I would like to update the Baby Guide website more often and take it up a notch. Feel free to write to us here and see if there is something you would like to see added here. I am fairly organized, but would like to go above and beyond this year.

I just heard the most amazing message. A friend sent me a link to a YouTube video about "the invisible woman" by freshbrewedlife. I highly recommend you check it out. I was so inspired by her message, and I think you will be too.

The 2009 Baby Guide book is coming along nicely, thanks to our great team. We have two new babies to celebrate on the Baby Guide team and they are so beautiful. What a gift children are. That is why I was so inspired to continue publishing this book. I want you to know you are not alone in raising these beautiful children. We all struggle and search for the short time they are put in our lives. I hope the resources we provide help you to struggle less and enjoy more. Please feel free to share your experiences with us on this blog.
I recently got to spend 3 days with my children because Scott was out of town. We had so much fun. My children are 7, 10 and 12 years old; and every stage we encounter, I say is my favorite. We played games and went away over night to our get away home and made rice Krispie treats. What a treat it was. They are very easy going and we have a lot of fun together. It is fun to see my oldest two developing an adult sense of humor. They still want to cuddle like little children, but are so quick witted. They really make me laugh.
Enjoy today and take some time to think about the message that is on that link and please know the work you are doing with your children is valued and blessed.

Well I think Fall is in full swing. I don't know about you but I really enjoy Fall activities. Taking my kids to pick out pumpkins at the farm, corn mazes, Halloween costumes. This year since money is tight for everyone including us I would like to get some great ideas for homemade costumes. My son says he is dressing up like a girl, which is easy since he has sisters. My girls said they would just wear some princess stuff or something out of the "dress up box" that we have in the playroom.
My neighbor made two great costumes... Her daughter is the cat in the hat. She bought one of those big red and white striped hats then took white felt and made the front of his look on a black turtleneck. She added a tail and painted her face and there you go! For her son she made a Jack -in-the-box costume. She took a cardboard box and decorated it with paint, made a handle out of a coat hanger and attached it to the side of the box, then put a wooden bead at the crank end. Then she made straps so it would stay on his shoulders. She put him in a jester hat and again painted his face and put him in a colorful t-shirt. It is the cutest thing I have seen in a long time.

Well we completed our charity baby shower last week. Look for the pictures in the new edition on The Baby Guide next June. We have quite a lot of baby things to give to the pregnancy center we choose to assist. I can't wait to deliver them this week. Our Baby Guide team are having two babies themselves this Fall. How AWESOME is that? I am so excited for them.

Our next event is a car seat safety event we are doing with Q102. A topic near and dear to my heart. I am a firm believer in car seats and am shocked at the number that are installed improperly. If any of you have any questions on how to install them correctly, please notify Room to Grow or your local firehouse. They can help you get them in the proper way to insure your child has the safest ride possible.

Starting Out

Well this is my first attempt at a blog. I hope you all enjoy chatting with us about the area and what it has to offer. I wanted a vehicle that we could get to know our readers and hear what you have to say. So this is it.

Today my kids went back to school so it is back to work for me! It is time to get another edition of The Baby Guide together. I have to decide what you would like to see this year! I have some pretty good ideas, so hopefully you will be pleased in June when you see the new one. How are you enjoying this year's magazine. If you have not received a copy please visit a local children's retailer and ask for a copy. If you have any trouble at all finding one, just go to our website www.thebabyguidecincinnati.com and request a copy and we'll get it to you.

Our latest family project is to try to go without plastic bottles. It is REALLY hard. I bought some stainless water bottles that we use a ton, but it is those unplanned wicked thirst moments that you just have to buy a bottle of water that I am having trouble with. And of course milk comes in plastic. I looked for cartons and could not find it. We are doing better, I hope to eliminate them from usage gradually. I do love the taste of water from those stainless containers, much better than plastic. They even make stainless sippy cups now, called safe sippy's. I know that the Spotted Goose carries them. HOW GREAT IS THAT! I found the water bottles for my older kids readily available anywhere.
